FROM TIMESONLINE

John McCain has chosen the female governor of Alaska as his running mate in a surprise move by the Republican nominee.

Sarah Palin, 44, is a dynamic mother of five who became the youngest governor in Alaskan history two years ago when she took office after campaigning to clean up government.

Mrs Palin is a high-risk choice given her lack of experience but could help deliver both an injection of youthfulness to Senator McCain’s campaign as well as appealing to female voters yet to transfer their allegiance from Hillary Clinton to Barack Obama.

Just to make things clear. Palin is not the first woman to be selected to run as VP.
Geraldine Ferraro ran in 1984… A lot of news outlets seem to be making this same mistake…. Anyway, cool blog.

    Z.K.,
Notice, he did not say that Palin would be the first nominee. McCain hopes she will be the first woman vp….that has not happened yet.
